Deion Sanders has remained in the public eye ever since his days as a standout NFL player with the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, then-Washington Redskins (now Commanders), and finally, the Baltimore Ravens, where he ended his professional playing career.
Accustomed to being in the spotlight, Sanders knows that anything happening in his life-or now in the lives of his sons-will be subject to public scrutiny. This can work both in his favor or against him.

As widely known, the man once dubbed “Prime Time” and now known as “Coach Prime” has been battling a series of health issues that have already forced him to step away from his duties with the Colorado Buffaloes, the college football team he currently coaches.
Deion Sanders’ health struggles
Sanders’ health problems are not new. One of the most serious has been related to blood circulation and clotting issues. These complications have already led to multiple surgeries, including the amputation of two toes in an effort to address blood clots in both legs. At one point, speculation even swirled around the possibility of a more significant amputation.
Mobility has also become a major concern. Deion’s gait has become slower and more labored, forcing him to miss key moments such as the start of preseason training with the Buffaloes this year.
Despite these health setbacks, Sanders remains calm but fully aware of how severe the situation could become. He has acknowledged the real risk of losing a foot, which is why he’s diligently following all medical advice and taking proactive measures to improve his condition.
In the face of adversity, his upbeat attitude is helping him push forward. Spending time with family, surrounded by loved ones, has been a vital source of strength and comfort during this period.

Return to the Colorado Buffaloes
There’s no official confirmation on when Coach Prime will return to the field with his team, but reports suggest he could reappear as early as July 9, during a Pac-12 press conference scheduled in Frisco, Texas.
A new ‘technique’ for better health
To improve his physical condition, Sanders has recently turned to using a weighted vest, which aids in building strength and endurance. According to Harvard Medical School, such vests can also help stimulate new bone cell growth.
In a video shared on social media by his son Deion Jr., Sanders is seen moving actively, a clear sign of progress.
Coach Prime himself has promised to provide a health update soon and clarify when he plans to return to his coaching duties.
The Colorado Buffaloes are set to kick off their season on August 29 at home against Georgia Tech.
