Die MT Melsungen, Dritter der letzten Saison, hat den Vertrag mit Aaron Mensing (27) vorzeitig verlängert. Der Rückraumspieler, der einen deutschen und dänischen Pass besitzt, bekam einen neuen Vertrag bis 2028. Das bisherige Arbeitspapier wäre am Ende der kommenden Saison ausgelaufen.
Handball: Melsungen verlängert mit Mensing
Wann Mensing wieder in der Bundesliga spielen wird, ist jedoch völlig offen. Am 4. März riss sich der Rückraumspieler in der European League in Kiel nach zwölf Minuten die Achillessehne. Normalerweise dauert es bis zu elf Monate, bis man wieder auf der Platte einsatzfähig ist.

„Ich werde nichts überstürzen“, sagt der Rechtshänder. Der Spezialschuh,der nach der OP notwendig war, wurde inzwischen eingemottet. Die verloren gegangene Muskelmasse muss nun wieder aufgebaut werden. Mensing: „Ich kann immer mehr machen. Aber alles sehr vorsichtig.“
Er gibt auch zu, wie er sich in den Wochen der Verletzung zunächst fühlte: „Du bist eben nicht mehr so richtig Teil der Mannschaft. Das musst du alles mental erst einmal auf die Reihe kriegen.“ Umso wichtiger wird ihm diese Vertragsverlängerung nun sein.

Noch muss er jedoch ein wenig Geduld haben, bis er diese Aufgaben wieder übernehmen kann.
