Der FC Barcelona hat Nico Williams als Transferziel Nummer eins für diesen Sommer ausgerufen. Der spanische Europameister kann Athletic Bilbao für eine festgeschriebene Ablösesumme von rund 62 Millionen Euro verlassen.
Aber: Nachdem spanische Medien bereits berichtet hatten, dass sich Klub und Wunschspieler längst auf einen Vertrag bis 2031 geeinigt haben sollen, stockt der Deal plötzlich.
Denn: Williams will Garantien von Barça. Die wichtigste: seine Registrierung für den LaLiga-Betrieb. Zur Erinnerung: Barça hatte zuletzt wegen enormer Schulden immer wieder Probleme, neue Stars zu registrieren.

„Ich würde Nico raten, geduldig zu sein, denn am Ende wird sich alles klären“, wird der spanische Nationalspieler von „Sport“ zitiert. „Es stimmt, dass aufgrund dessen, was mir letzten Sommer passiert ist, einige Zweifel aufkommen könnten, aber ich bin immer ruhig geblieben und hatte das Vertrauen des Vereins“, erklärte er weiter.

Doch die Liga macht Barça und Williams aktuell wenig Hoffnungen. Denn LaLiga-Boss Javier Tebas (62) stellte laut spanischen Medien am Dienstag deutlich klar: „Stand heute wäre Barcelona nicht in der Lage, ihn zu registrieren“.
Das Problem für das hoch verschuldete Barça: Williams Ausstiegsklausel gilt laut „Sport“ nur noch eine Woche bis zum 9. Juli. Bis dahin muss der Klub die gesamte Ablöse bei der Liga hinterlegen. Sollte das gelingen, wäre eine Registrierung damit aber immer noch nicht garantiert. Das Zittern bei Barça und Williams würde also weitergehen.
