Nesta sexta-feira (4), Palmeiras e Fluminense voltam a campo na Copa do Mundo de Clubes para enfrentar, respectivamente, Chelsea e Al Hilal, em busca de uma vaga nas semifinais da competição. No entanto, além da tão sonhada vaga na próxima fase, a classificação significa ainda uma premiação de nada menos que US$ 21 milhões (cerca de R$ 115 milhões) nos cofres dos clubes.
Tanto o Verdão quanto o Tricolor carioca, os dois únicos brasileiros ainda vivos na competição, já embolsaram um total de US$ 39,71 milhões (R$ 217 milhões). Este é o valor acumulado por cada um na disputa, incluindo prêmios pagos pela disputa, um vitória e dois empates na fase de grupos, além de classificação para oitavas de quartas de final.
Depois de surpreender e eliminar a Inter de Milão nas oitavas de final, o Fluminense entra em campo pelas quartas de final às 16h (de Brasília), nesta sexta-feira (4), para encarar o Al Hilal, time saudita que despachou o temido Manchester City na fase anterior. As duas equipes se enfrentarão no World Camping Stadium, em Orlando.
Já o Palmeiras volta a campo no mesmo dia, mas um pouco mais tarde, às 22h (de Brasília), para enfrentar o Chelsea, no Lincoln Financial Field, na Filadélfia. Caso os dois times brasileiros consigam a classificação às semifinais, o torneio terá o segundo duelo brasileiro. No primeiro, o Palmeiras eliminou o Botafogo em partida única das oitavas de final.
Desfalques no Palmeiras preocupam
O time comandado pelo técnico Abel Ferreira terá que lidar com a perda de três titulares para o confronto com o Chelsea. O zagueiro e capitão Gustavo Gómez vai cumprir suspensão por expulsão diante do Botafogo, assim como o lateral-esquerdo Piquerez, que levou o segundo cartão amarelo e também está suspenso. Por fim, o zagueiro Murilo se recupera de lesão e também está fora.
A expectativa mais conservadora é que as vagas abertas no time titular sejam preenchidas por Bruno Fuchs e Micael na zaga e com Vanderlan na lateral esquerda. No entanto, os jogadores não foram confirmados na escalação do técnico Abel Ferreira. A definição deverá ser divulgada somente uma hora antes da bola rolar na Filadélfia.
