Die Fußballwelt trauert um Diogo Jota.
Der portugiesische Nationalspieler und Star des FC Liverpool starb bei einem Autounfall in Spanien. Er war mit seinem Bruder André (26) unterwegs, als das Brüderpaar in der Nacht zu Dienstag in einem Lamborghini von der Straße abkam. Auch André (Profi beim portugiesischen Zweitligisten Penafiel) überlebte den Crash nicht.
Die Guardia Civil (nationale Polizeieinheit in Spanien) gab erste Informationen zum Unfallhergang heraus: Gegen 0:30 Uhr platzte beim Überholen wohl ein Reifen am Lambo, der Wagen schleuderte nach links von der Fahrbahn, soll sich überschlagen haben.
Laut „Marca“ setzen mehrere Zeugen Notrufe ab, die in der Einsatzzentrale von Castile ankamen. Sie berichteten davon, dass ein Sportwagen in Flammen stand und diese schon auf die Vegetationen übergegriffen hatten.

Die Guardia Civil und die Feuerwehr der Provinzverwaltung von Zamora waren nach Angaben lokaler Medien schnell vor Ort. Das Notfallkoordinationszentrum von Emergencias Sanitarias-Sacyl schickte eine medizinische Notfalleinheit und medizinisches Personal aus dem Gesundheitszentrum von Mombuey an den Unfallort. Die Helfer konnten nur noch den Tod der beiden Fußballer feststellen.

Mitarbeiter der Polizei nehmen Spuren auf, begutachten den Unfallwagen. Das Unglück geschah auf der A-52 in der Gemeinde Cernadilla (Provinz Zamora).
Jota hatte nur elf Tage vor dem tödlichen Crash geheiratet. Am 22. Juni gaben sich der Portugiese und seine Frau Rute Cardoso das Ja-Wort. Das Paar hat drei gemeinsame Kinder.
