At the end of the recent draft, the Browns used the fifth overall pick – originally owned by the Jaguars – to select Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham. Fans were initially unhappy with the move, but over time they’ve begun to understand the long-term logic.
Cleveland Browns insider Sam Monson approved of the trade with Jacksonville, highlighting that the Browns now have strong draft capital to go after their quarterback in 2026.
“I still think the smart move is to pick up the extra first-round pick next year if for no other reason than you need the quarterback; not the guy who plays corner or wide receiver,” Monson said on the Check the Mic podcast, referring to Hunter.
Sure, it may have been painful for Browns fans to see the team pass on Travis Hunter, but looking ahead, the team will now have two first-round picks in next year’s draft – a draft expected to be rich with quarterback talent, potentially including Arch Manning from Texas and Drew Allar from Penn State.
