Durante participação no programa da ESPN Brasil, o comentarista Vitor Birner apontou Jhon Arias, do Fluminense, como o principal destaque da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA até o momento.
Segundo ele, o colombiano vem sendo decisivo mesmo atuando por um time que precisa superar adversidades maiores que seus concorrentes europeus.
Apesar de reconhecer o talento de Michael Olise, atualmente no Bayern de Munique, Birner explicou por que não o escolheu como o melhor jogador da competição:
“Pra mim, o Olise é um craque, mas está cercado por um elenco de alto nível: Kane, Musiala, Kimmich, Coman… Fica mais fácil jogar assim. Quero ver se ele faria o mesmo no Fluminense, onde se corre mais, se defende mais e se enfrenta times melhores”, afirmou o jornalista.
Méritos de Arias em um cenário mais exigente
Para o comentarista, Arias tem se destacado em um contexto muito mais desafiador. O colombiano atua em um time com menos posse de bola, menor investimento e que enfrenta adversários mais estruturados tecnicamente. Ainda assim, é um dos protagonistas do Mundial, o que, para Birner, valoriza ainda mais sua performance.
