Devin Fitzgerald, a three-star recruit from the class of 2026, officially announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish on Saturday, July 5, through Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

Fitzgerald chose Notre Dame from a final group that included UCLA, Clemson, and Stanford. It was undoubtedly a tough decision, but after careful consideration, he opted to head to South Bend.
Who is Devin Fitzgerald?
Devin Fitzgerald stands at 6’2″ and weighs approximately 185 pounds. He played high school football at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to Rivals, he is ranked 82nd nationally and is the seventh-best player in the state of Arizona.
While his last name draws immediate attention due to his father, NFL legend and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, Devin has carved out his own reputation on the field. Now, he’ll face even greater challenges as he prepares to go up against elite collegiate defenses determined to test his potential.
The pressure will be immense for the young Fitzgerald. Though he’s just beginning his college journey, comparisons to his iconic father will only grow stronger if he one day reaches the professional level.
Larry Fitzgerald spent his entire career with the Arizona Cardinals, playing 17 seasons from 2004 to 2020. He was selected to the Pro Bowl 11 times and ranks second all-time in career receptions (1,432) and receiving yards (17,492), trailing only the legendary Jerry Rice. He also sits sixth in career touchdown receptions with 121.
By choosing to join the Fighting Irish, Devin Fitzgerald not only steps into a storied football tradition but also positions himself in opposition to another football icon-Deion Sanders, who currently coaches at Colorado and has been a high-profile recruiter. Devin’s commitment to Notre Dame sets up a potential future clash between two legacies on opposite sidelines.
With this move, Fitzgerald becomes the second player to commit to Notre Dame this week, reinforcing the university’s strong recruiting momentum heading into the future.
