Four days later, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, two veteran players, will join the mix, also vying for the starting quarterback role. Starting July 22, the team will begin four weeks of training at the Browns’ facilities in Berea, Ohio, where, additionally, eight practices will be open to the public.
With the season just months away, the team led by Kevin Stefanski is looking to find its best form and resolve doubts about certain positions. This is where the coaching staff will decide if Shedeur Sanders will ultimately win the battle, though it seems the bet may lean elsewhere.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, veteran Joe Flacco holds the edge to win the starting quarterback role, with reports indicating he has the support of key team figures like Myles Garrett and other veterans.
While some reports suggest a slight inclination toward Kenny Pickett, it’s the other veteran who has shown a stronger arm, and in September, he’s expected to lead the offense in Week 1 of the NFL against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Not all is lost for Shedeur Sanders
The rookie quarterback and son of Deion Sanders may have to wait for his opportunity in the NFL. It’s anticipated that as the season progresses, Shedeur Sanders could be used as the starter, though, as seen in other franchises, results often dictate changes in any position. A shaky start could force Kevin Stefanski to experiment to find solutions, as patience within the Browns-and from the fanbase’s pressure-may be in short supply.
