Gonza Alfonso explota por el acoso en redes: “Fue duro ver a tanta gente deseando que nos vaya mal”

En todo deporte existen figuras más mediáticas que otras, y Gonza Alfonso claramente pertenece al primer grupo. El revés argentino es uno de los jugadores más reconocidos a nivel mundial, a pesar de no figurar entre los 30 mejores del ranking. Sin embargo, esa visibilidad también ha traído consigo consecuencias negativas, como él mismo ha denunciado en el canal de VeinteDiez.

‘Los Mágicos’, la pareja que formaba con Tolito Aguirre y cuya separación fue anunciada recientemente, tomaron una valiente decisión: renunciar a su posición como número uno del ya desaparecido A1 Pádel para afrontar el reto de competir contra los mejores en Premier Padel. En un primer momento, el cambio pareció dar frutos. Aprovecharon el boicot de la PPA a los torneos de Gijón y Cancún para sumar una gran cantidad de puntos, lo que les permitió entrar directamente en el cuadro principal.

Esa circunstancia generó una fuerte reacción, no solo entre aficionados, sino también entre otros jugadores del circuito. “Entiendo y no entiendo el reclamo. Desde la pareja 100 hacia abajo hubo otros que se apuntaron y solo la tomaron con nosotros”, ha declarado Gonza. Además, explicó las razones detrás de su decisión: “Estábamos en una situación delicada y nadie lo sabía. Podíamos tener que volver a A1 a terminar el año por temas legales“.

La suma de estos factores desencadenó un clima hostil en cada torneo. “Tuve que trabajar mucho para manejarlo. Estuvimos en la mira de todo el mundo y fue duro ver a tanta gente deseando que nos vaya mal. No podía ni entrar a las redes sociales”. Durante varios meses, las críticas inundaban cada publicación tras una derrota.

Un turbulento cambio de circuito

Los motivos de su salida de A1 no fueron únicamente deportivos, como ha señalado el propio jugador: “En A1 existieron problemas con los pagos de los premios, promesas que nunca se cumplieron y alguna forma de maltrato en las condiciones que nos daban”. A pesar de ello, no se arrepiente de su elección: “Mandamos una carta y nunca la contestaron. Salir de esa manera es lo mejor que nos pasó”.

Además de hacer frente a las críticas, Gonza tuvo que adaptarse a un estilo de juego completamente distinto, lo cual le pasó factura en las primeras competencias del calendario: “En Premier se juegan muchas bolas neutras y nos mataba la toma de decisión. Tolito y yo teníamos algo a favor que nos empezó a jugar en contra: las variantes“. También cambió su mentalidad con respecto al compañerismo: “Esto es muy individual. Es muy difícil encontrar un proyecto en este circuito. Si no estás muy top es casi imposible. Ahora tengo otra perspectiva”.

Ese paso de estar en la cima a pelear en fases previas también tuvo un impacto económico. “Ganamos menos de premios que en A1, pero los sponsors lo compensan. Es mucha la diferencia en relación a lo que ponen las marcas en cada circuito”, explica Alfonso.

Del cielo al infierno

Gonza, junto a Tolito Aguirre, formó la dupla más exitosa de A1 Pádel. Sin embargo, tras su llegada a Premier, pasó de luchar por trofeos a tener que conformarse con rozar los cuartos de final. “Se me hace difícil irme tan rápido de los torneos”, reconoce. Esta caída también le afectó a nivel mental: “Estuve muy mal anímicamente. Dejé de creer en mi juego. Sentía que no le podía ganar a nadie, que no estaba en mi nivel”.

Finalmente, todos estos factores derivaron en la disolución de ‘Los Mágicos’. “Con Leo ya no teníamos la misma entrega el uno por el otro. Ya habíamos dejado de creer”, admite Gonza. Pese a todo, su motivación por mejorar y crecer sigue intacta: “Estoy tratando de aprender a hacer las cosas más simples y a mejorar lo físico, porque aquí cada detalle cuenta. Te llevan siempre al límite“.

En Burdeos ya puso contra las cuerdas a los número uno, y próximamente, en Málaga, competirá junto a Aris Patiniotis, un veterano del Premier Padel. Además, disputará un FIP Gold con Edu Alonso, una oportunidad que podría impulsarlo aún más en el ranking. En cualquier escenario, Gonza Alfonso sigue siendo uno de los jugadores más espectaculares del mundo y tendrá un claro objetivo de cara a los siguientes torneos: “Necesito volver a reírme, volver a disfrutar”.
