Dieser Transfer hängt Deco immer noch nach …
Die Causa Roque gehört zu den unschöneren Kapiteln in der Transfergeschichte des FC Barcelona. Im Januar 2024 holten die Katalanen Vitor Roque (20) für 30 Millionen von Athletico Paranaense. Kurz vor seinem 18. Geburtstag. Dem Druck dort war er nicht gewachsen. Barças Sportdirektor Deco scheint die Thematik noch immer zu beschäftigen.

Schon im Juli hatte Deco sich zu dem Transfer geäußert. Um gegen Ex-Trainer Xavi (45) nachzutreten, der den Winter-Transfer forciert hatte. Denn: Eigentlich wollte man Roque erst im Sommer 2024 holen.

Deco weiter: „Wäre er in dieser Saison gekommen, wäre es vielleicht besser für ihn gelaufen, mit neuen Fitnesstrainern. Vielleicht hätte er mehr Glück gehabt. Jetzt muss er bei Palmeiras sein Selbstvertrauen zurückgewinnen.“
Dorthin wechselte Roque letzten Februar. Für 25,5 Millionen Euro. Zuvor gab es eine Leihe an Betis Sevilla. In Barcelona spielte er nur ein halbes Jahr. Für die Blaugrana hielt sich der finanzielle Schaden in Grenzen. Für Roque war es der frühe Karriereknick.
In zuletzt 24 Spielen für Palmeiras traf er nur drei Mal. Die einst an ihn gerichteten Erwartungen konnte er nie erfüllen. In Barcelona glaubte man, er könnte der beste Stürmer der Liga werden, von Lewandowskis Erfahrung profitieren.
Neuer unter Schock: „Es ist beides brutal hart“
Aber: Die Situation in Barcelona belastete Roque vor allem auch mental. Vor dem Wechsel zu Palmeiras gestand er: „Ja, ich habe daran gedacht, dass ich auf einer Farm in Brasilien leben will (…) es ist manchmal viel Druck.“
Statt frühem Karriere-Ende setzte er sich damals das Ziel, sich sein Selbstvertrauen zurückzuholen. Daran arbeitet er bei Palmeiras.
