Deutschlands Sandmänner sind am 2. Tag der Beachhandball-EM alles andere als verschlafen. Im letzten Spiel der Vorrunde besiegt die DHB-Auswahl auch Portugal 2:0 (23:22 und 26:20) und zieht damit als Gruppensieger in die Hauptrunde ein.
Drei Spiele, drei Siege und noch keinen Halbzeit- bzw. Satzverlust (alle Spiele wurden 2:0 gewonnen). Die jungen Beachboys mit Kapitän Robin John (33) überzeugen am Strand von Alanya (Türkei).

Überragend im Spiel gegen die Portugiesen ist Küken Jannis Herr (18).
Der ehemalige Jugend-Beach-Nationalspieler macht seine ersten Länderspiele im Sand für die Großen und wirft Portugal schwindlig. Der Jungstar macht allein 23 Punkte, das sind elf Trick-Tore (aus einer 360-Grad-Drehung oder per Kempa) und dazu hämmert Herr auch noch das 23:22 zum Satzgewinn in der ersten Halbzeit, drei Sekunden vor dem Ende, ins Netz.

Herr erklärt SPORT BILD: „Am Dienstagabend gegen die Türken lief es überhaupt nicht bei mir, ich habe gar nichts getroffen. Wir hatten alle Probleme mit der plötzlichen Luftfeuchtigkeit. Ich konnte den Ball schlecht festhalten. Dass es gegen Portugal dann so gut für mich läuft, habe ich auch nicht erwartet. Das hat richtig Spaß gemacht.“
„Wir sind nach dem Spiel gegen die Türkei richtig früh ins Bett gegangen, ich habe das Handy ausgeschaltet und irgendwie bin ich dann mit dem richtigen Selbstvertrauen wieder aufgewacht“, schmunzelt Jannis Herr, der in der Halle als Linkshänder auf Halbrechts und Rechtsaußen in der 3. Liga bei Münster spielt.
[–>Bundestrainer Marten Franke (29) lobt: „Das hat er heute Vormittag wirklich toll gemacht. Dass er besser spielt, als gegen die Türken war klar, aber dass er so explodiert ist, freut uns natürlich.“
Schon am Mittwochabend (17 Uhr, deutscher Zeit) geht es jetzt für die Beach-Männer gegen Polen im ersten Hauptrunden-Spiel weiter. Donnerstag (18 Uhr) gegen Kroatien und am Freitag schon 7.30 Uhr gegen Dänemark (letztes Gruppenspiel). Alle Spiele werden vom Streamingdienst Dyn live übertragen.
