Aitor Karanka ya tiene despacho nuevo en Las Rozas. El exfutbolista y entrenador se ha incorporado de manera oficial al organigrama de la Real Federación Española de Fútbol como Director Técnico de Desarrollo y de la Selección Absoluta Masculina. En su primera entrevista tras el nombramiento, concedida a La Tribu de Radio MARCA con Javier Amaro, Karanka ha mostrado su ilusión por regresar a una casa que siente como propia.
“Encantado de volver a esta casa. Estuve hace años, pero regresar ahora en este cargo y en un momento tan bueno para el fútbol español es un privilegio”, afirmó. Karanka colaborará estrechamente con Luis de la Fuente y su cuerpo técnico, a quienes elogió sin reservas: “Están haciendo un trabajo espectacular. A Luis le conozco desde hace más de 30 años y sabe que estoy para ayudar en lo que necesiten”. Además, su función incluirá estructurar las categorías inferiores y acercar aún más la Federación a clubes, territoriales y afición: “Queremos que se vea que la Federación es de todos”.

La sintonía con el seleccionador ha sido clave en su incorporación. “Una de mis primeras preguntas cuando me ofrecieron el puesto fue qué pensaba Luis. Me dijeron que estaba encantado y la primera llamada que recibí fue suya”, reveló Karanka.
Con la Eurocopa reciente aún en la retina, el nuevo responsable también puso la vista en el Mundial de 2026: “Es un proyecto ganador, pero hay que ir paso a paso, con los pies en el suelo y confiando en lo que se está haciendo”.

Karanka valoró positivamente la irrupción de jóvenes talentos como Gonzalo, delantero del Real Madrid: “Ha sabido aprovechar su oportunidad y eso es bueno para el Madrid, para Luis y para nosotros”. Y reconoció que el talento joven, especialmente el que emerge de clubes como Barça y Real Madrid, supone “buenos dolores de cabeza” a la hora de confeccionar listas.
