Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever star, is reportedly set to return to action after battling a painful groin injury that sidelined her for two weeks and five straight games. For fans, it’s been a long stretch without their team’s biggest name.
The outlook was uncertain for a while. Head coach Stephanie White had even mentioned the possibility of holding her out one more game. But the situation has shifted. According to @UnderdogWNBA, White confirmed that Clark is expected to be available for the Wednesday, July 8 game against the Golden State Valkyries, in what’s being billed as the much-anticipated “Iowa Reunion.”

Clark participated in full practice
Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star reported that Clark returned to full practice on Monday, joining five-on-five drills for the first time since her injury. That was the sign everyone had been waiting for-her recovery is on track.
Still, her return will come with some precautions. She’s expected to have limited minutes during her comeback. Clark herself addressed the situation:
“I don’t know how many minutes I’ll get, but when I’m on the court, I’ll compete and play with intensity.”
Clark opens up about the emotional toll
Beyond the physical setback, the 6-foot guard also spoke about the emotional challenges of being sidelined. In a press conference, she shared:
“I think it’s great to be back playing and connecting with my teammates. I hope it’s fun.”
Sitting out has been tough for her. While it’s not the first time she’s dealt with physical issues (she’s also had a lingering quad problem), being off the court is never easy.
Fever must prioritize her health
Indiana Fever is eager to have its star back, but the priority is also keeping her protected. There’s no point in taking unnecessary risks. The message is clear: rushing her return could make things worse.
Clark understands and agrees:
“It’s been a mental challenge to stay in shape. I’ve spent hours working to recover and be available for the rest of the season. That’s my goal.”
Indiana needs Caitlin back-but must be patient
Clark’s return means much more than just points. She brings confidence, leadership, and a unique bond with fans that few players can match. But patience remains key.
The next few games will be crucial in evaluating how her body responds. Clark is ready to return, but her path back to peak form will take time. For now, just seeing her back in a Fever jersey already feels like a win.
