Der Spanier hatte die jüngste Truppe der Liga in der abgelaufenen Saison sensationell auf Platz drei geführt. Zudem spielten die Löwen zum ersten Mal seit 20 Jahren wieder international. Erst im Januar hatte Ramirez seinen Vertrag bis 2027 verlängert.

Ramirez unterbrach demnach seinen Urlaub, um nach Braunschweig zu fliegen und dort mit Boss Nils Mittmann (46) über mögliche Ausstiegsszenarien zu sprechen.

Ramirez begann in Deutschland 2011 im Nachwuchs von Ratiopharm Ulm und ist seit 2021 Chef-Trainer an der Oker. Davor arbeitete er vier Jahre in Ungarn und Polen.
Immer wieder schaffte es Ramirez dabei, Stars zu formen. Wie Jilson Bango (26), der über eine Station in Saragossa bei Euroleague-Sieger Fenerbahce Istanbul gelandet ist.

Ramirez’ Abgang ist auch ein Schock für NBA-Star Dennis Schröder (31). Der Mehrheitsgesellschafter der Löwen ist in die wichtigen sportlichen Belange des Klubs eingebunden. Und hielt große Stücke auf Talent-Entwickler Ramirez.
Nachfolger bei den Löwen soll der bisherige Co-Trainer Kostas Papazoglou (41) werden. Der Grieche ist seit 2020 im Klub und damit sogar ein Jahr länger als Ramirez.
Eine offizielle Bestätigung der Löwen steht allerdings noch aus. Offenbar wird noch um eine mögliche Ablöse gefeilscht.
