FOX Sports reporter Audra Martin has shared with the public images of the severe bruise she suffered on her abdomen after being hit by a foul ball during a Minnesota Twins game, a team she has covered for nearly a decade.
Audra Martin is more than used to this kind of risk in her work, but she had never been directly hit by a ball before. On this occasion, the blow left a visible and painful mark on her stomach that could take weeks to disappear completely.

Audra Martin joined the FOX Sports North broadcast team nearly 10 years ago and has been part of the group that covers both the Twins baseball team and the Minnesota Wild in the NHL.
During that time, the signal has gone through several changes of ownership, including Bally Sports and currently FanDuel TV, although its role and sports coverage have remained relatively stable.
What happened to Audra Martin?
The journalist has had several scares with balls batted into the press areas, and even used her notebook to deflect a foul ball in 2017. However, this was the first time she suffered a direct hit.
The recent incident occurred while Martin was doing his job in the vicinity of the dugout, an area prone to such accidents. Although images of the exact moment of impact have not been released, the bruise left by the ball has been shown.
Fortunately, according to the reporter herself, the ball hit a “soft” area of the abdomen, which avoided further damage.
Have you ever wondered what a foul ball looks like in the abdomen? Luckily, I have a slightly soft abdominal area… It’s probably the only time I’ve ever said that! Audra Martin commented in a funny tone.
If it had hit a few inches higher or lower, it could have resulted in fractured ribs or a hip injury.
The bruise, described as “shocking” by those who have seen it, will accompany him for at least a month while he recovers. Despite the scare, Martin reported no further complications and has continued with his work.
