Kommt er noch einmal zurück auf den heiligen Rasen?
Nach der deutlichen Halbfinal-Niederlage gegen Jannik Sinner (23) hat Novak Djokovic die Spekulationen über ein mögliches Karriereende adressiert. Trotz der klaren 0:3-Pleite (3:6, 3:6, 4:6) gegen den jungen Italiener will der 24-fache Grand-Slam-Sieger weiterkämpfen – und vor allem nach Wimbledon zurückkehren.
„Ich wäre traurig, wenn es mein letztes Match auf dem Centre Court gewesen wäre – aber das ist nicht mein Plan. Ich plane definitiv, noch mindestens einmal zurückzukommen. Ich gedenke nicht, heute meine Wimbledon-Karriere zu beenden“, so Djokovic auf der Pressekonferenz.
[–>Das Match gegen Sinner war in weniger als zwei Stunden vorbei. Djokovic wirkte überfordert, angeschlagen, fast kraftlos. Bereits im Viertelfinale gegen Flavio Cobolli hatte er sich bei einem Sturz verletzt, und die Nachwirkungen schienen ihm nun zuzusetzen – vor allem gegen den schnelleren, physisch überlegenen Sinner, der ihm keine Verschnaufpause ließ.

Obwohl Djokovic im dritten Satz nochmal mit 3:0 in Führung ging, konnte er das Ruder nicht mehr herumreißen. Sinner gewann auch den fünften Vergleich in Folge gegen den Serben – ein Kunststück, das bislang nur Rafael Nadal in den Jahren 2008 und 2009 gelungen war.
Djokovic verlor zuvor bereits zwei Wimbledon-Endspiele in Folge gegen Carlos Alcaraz – einmal in fünf Sätzen (2023), zuletzt in drei Sätzen (2024). Auch 2025 geht der Titel erneut an einen aus der neuen Tennis-Generation.
