O Fluminense chegou a um acordo com o Wolverhampton para a venda do meia-atacante Jhon Arias por cerca de € 20 milhões (cerca de R$ 129milhões), confirmou o jornalista especialista em mercado de transferências Fabrizio Romano nas redes sociais nesta segunda-feira. O jogador colombiano de 27 anos já aceitou os termos para atuar na Premier League e deve embarcar nos próximos dias para a Inglaterra, onde fará exames médicos e assinará contrato com o novo clube.

O negócio, também confirmado por João Percy, do Telegraph, representa uma das maiores vendas da história recente do clube carioca. Arias vinha sendo alvo de clubes da Europa e do mundo árabe, mas o Wolverhampton, que já havia manifestado interesse no início da janela, acelerou as tratativas nos últimos dias e conseguiu fechar a operação.
Revelado pelo Patriotas, da Colômbia, e com passagens por Llaneros, América de Cali e Independiente Santa Fe, Arias chegou ao Fluminense em 2021 e rapidamente se tornou peça-chave no elenco. Em quatro temporadas no Tricolor, conquistou dois títulos estaduais e foi campeão da Libertadores em 2023, além de ter disputado o Mundial de Clubes e consolidado seu espaço na seleção colombiana.
Pela equipe carioca, foram mais de 180 partidas, com 29 gols marcados e inúmeras assistências. Além do desempenho técnico, Arias ganhou destaque pelo comprometimento tático, polivalência no setor ofensivo e comportamento profissional dentro e fora de campo.
No Fluminense, a saída do colombiano já vinha sendo tratada como provável. Em junho, o presidente Mário Bittencourt admitiu que o clube precisava fazer uma venda significativa para equilibrar as finanças da temporada. O montante da negociação com o Wolverhampton, ainda não oficializado, deve ajudar a aliviar as contas do clube, que vive uma fase instável no Campeonato Brasileiro de 2025.
