Deion Sanders has been a role model for many players and coaches in American football, both in college and in the NFL. One of them is DeSean Jackson, who decided to focus his life on guiding others in this sport after retiring, taking the previously mentioned strategist of the Colorado Buffaloes (NCAA) as his model.
Jackson, now a first-year football coach in the NCAA, is one of several friends of Deion Sanders and his family who have visited the head coach of Colorado this preseason. It is not uncommon for friends to visit Sanders. These visits seem to carry a bit more weight considering the coach Prime’s undisclosed health issue.

Jackson recently took over at Delaware State after visiting with Sanders. He admitted that, after retiring, he didn’t know what to do. Jackson runs coaching in his family and decided to give it a try. Seeing how the kids responded and what he could offer them, he felt called to coach.

“For me, Sanders has been extraordinary,” Jackson said. “I’ve been through my process at Delaware State. Everything I’m going through, he’s been through. So he knows all the details and knows what to prepare me for. Without him, I probably wouldn’t be in this position. I take my hat off to him,” he said.
What illness does Colorado coach Deion Sanders have?
Deion Sanders has been absent from his role as Colorado’s head coach recently due to a mysterious illness. Coach Prime briefly discussed his recent health scare. On Asante Samuel’s podcast, he mentioned that he had lost 15 pounds and that “what I’m experiencing right now is on another level.”
It’s important to remember that the Pro Football Hall of Famer underwent multiple surgeries and had two toes amputated due to blood clots in his leg during the 2021 season while coaching at Jackson State.
