No one can doubt that the Dallas Cowboys are the most popular team in the NFL across the United States, but this distinction doesn’t help them, given they haven’t truly won anything in decades-a frustrating reality for many fans still waiting for their team to rediscover the greatness that faded long ago.

In this context, the team has made significant investments to rank among the league’s leaders, but unfortunately for fans, this doesn’t bring them closer to a Super Bowl.
The Cowboys spend big… with little success
Few consider the Dallas Cowboys favorites to reach the Super Bowl or even win the NFC in 2025, though they could top one ranking: the team that spends the most money.
Currently, Dallas ranks No. 12 in cash spending this year, but as Dan Rogers of Blogging the Boys notes, this could change if Micah Parsons signs a contract extension.
“The Cowboys sit just outside the top 10 in cash spending at the moment, but that will all change if they extend Micah Parsons this season,” Rogers wrote. “When Nick Bosa got his extension a couple of years ago, it came with a $50 million signing bonus. If Parsons gets that much, it would propel the Cowboys to $358 million, surpassing the Vikings as the top cash-spending team in the NFL.”
It’s expected that defensive star Micah Parsons will receive a massive contract, likely surpassing the four-year, $160 million extension signed by Myles Garrett, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Parsons, at 26 years old, has recorded 52.5 sacks over his first four professional seasons, finishing among the top three in Defensive Player of the Year voting on three occasions.

Thus, the Cowboys could become the NFL’s biggest spenders, but what their fans truly want is a Super Bowl championship-or at least a team that competes at the highest level, something they haven’t done in a long time.
