Bislang ist er um seinen Einstand beim BVB herumgekommen, die Taktung und Belastung während der Klub-WM war zu hoch, als dass er das Willkommensritual abhalten konnte. Es sind vor allem zwei Dinge, mit denen Bellingham seinen Vorgesetzten imponiert. Zum einen seine Begeisterung – ja fast schon Besessenheit – für den Fußball. Lediglich mit seinen Eltern Denise und Mark bespricht Jobe ausführlich Themen abseits des Platzes, dann geht es auch um private Dinge. Spricht er mit seinen Kollegen, geht es fast immer um seine Leidenschaft. Mit Pascal Groß (34) hat er einen Mitspieler gefunden, der ähnlich tickt. Der wie Bellingham in England gespielt hat und ein Faible für Diskussionen über Taktik und andere Mannschaften hat. Auch mit Felix Nmecha (24) tauscht sich Bellingham häufig aus. Sein großer Vorteil: Unter Trainer Niko Kovac (53) ist die Amtssprache in der Kabine Englisch, Bellingham kann somit jederzeit mitreden.
[–>Verbringt er Zeit alleine, schaut er sich meistens Videos von anderen Mittelfeldspielern an. Zuletzt stand Real-Legende Luka Modric (39) bei ihm hoch im Kurs, die Doku über Liverpool-Idol Steven Gerrard (45) hat er sich schon mehrfach angeschaut. Nur einen Spieler klammert er bei seinem privaten Video-Studium aus: seinen Bruder Jude (22). Weil er ihn in- und auswendig kennt. Während der Großteil der Mannschaft nach dem Ausscheiden bei der Klub-WM (2:3 im Viertelfinale gegen Real) direkt in den Urlaub flog, blieb Jobe in den USA – um das Halbfinal-Spiel seines Bruders live im Stadion verfolgen zu können. Real kam gegen PSG mit 0:4 unter die Räder.

Nun zu Punkt zwei: Die Bosse waren gespannt, wie Bellingham reagieren würde, als er beim ersten Spiel der Klub-WM gegen Fluminense (0:0) nicht in der Startelf stand. Als sie sahen, dass er sich anschließend im Training noch stärker engagierte, noch mehr anbot, wussten sie: Bellingham bringt eine Mentalität mit, die der Mannschaft in der vergangenen Saison über lange Strecken fehlte.
Beim BVB ist sich mittlerweile jeder sicher: Bellingham wird ein Hit für den BVB. Ob er singen kann, muss er noch beweisen.
