O’Connor ovládl královskou etapu Tour. Pogačar navýšil vedení, drama v boji o pódium

Už popáté v letošním ročníku nejprestižnějšího závodu vyrazil O’Connor do úniku. A tentokrát se mu dřina vyplatila. V údolí před závěrečným kopcem s Američanem Matteem Jorgensonem a Kolumbijcem Einerem Rubiem odskočili favoritům na celkové pořadí. A na Col de la Loze byl 29letý Australan jednoznačně nejsilnější. „Vůbec jsem nevěřil, že bych mohl vyhrát královskou etapu. Ale už od začátku jsem se cítil výborně,“ líčil.

O’Connor tak slaví na Staré dámě po čtyřech letech etapový triumf a zachránil doposud nepovedenou Tour pro tým Jayco AlUla. „Je to největší, ale zároveň nejkrutější závod na světě. Už tolik let jsem bojoval o další výhru, tolik třetích a čtvrtých míst… Jsem na sebe moc hrdý. A na celý tým. Všem patří velký dík, tohle jsme potřebovali,“ uvědomoval si. Příjemným bonusem pro něj je, že poskočil z dvanáctého na desáté místo pořadí.

Právě mezi jezdci bojující o nejvyšší příčky se také pořádně závodilo. V etapě přes tři vrcholy nejvyšší kategorie se dostal do úniku průběžně pátý muž Primož Roglič i sedmý Felix Gall. Jenže ti z výrazného náskoku na konkurenty po vystoupání na druhý kopec dne nevytěžili vůbec nic.

18. etapa Tour de France 2025

Do čela se totiž dotáhl Slovinec Pogačar ve žlutém trikotu s Dánem Vingegaardem, jenž útočil právě ve stoupání na Col de la Madelaine 72 kilometrů před cílem. Od rivala se vzdálit nedokázal, ale pokračoval ve vysokém tempu, až se dvojka největších favoritů dotáhla na denní únik. „Týmu patří velký dík. Snažili jsme se zaútočit brzy, což se povedlo. Ale nedokázal jsem se odpoutat od Tadeje. Rozhodli jsme se tak počkat a znovu rozjet tempo,“ popisoval Vingegaard.

Roglič s Gallem se tak propadli zpět do hlavního pole. Vyčkávat ovšem nehodlal třetí Florian Lipowitz. Vrchař týmu Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe a Rogličův parťák za to před cílovým stoupáním vzal a vytvořil si takřka tříminutový náskok na čtvrtého Brita Onleyho.

Jenže 24letý Němec jedoucí v bílém trikotu přecenil své síly a jeho náskok na Col de la Loze se rychle rozplynul. Následně nedokázal akceptovat tempo Adama Yatese z UAE Emirates, jenž pracoval pro Pogačara.

Naopak Onley se fantastickým výkonem dlouho držel dvou největších hvězd. Díky čtvrtému místu smazal většinu manka na třetího Lipowitze a před posledními třemi etapami to bude o poslední volné místo na pódium ještě pořádný boj. Teprve 22letý Bittnerův týmový kolega už ztrácí na Lipowitze jen 22 sekund. Připomeňme, že pro oba jde o premiéru na Tour de France.

A co souboj o vítězství? Tam se prozatím žádné drama nekoná. Mistr světa v závěrečném kilometru opět stvrdil svou dominanci. Drtivým nástupem se zbavil Vingegaarda, dojel si pro druhé místo a náskok na Dána navýšil o jedenáct vteřin už na 4:26. Vítěz Staré dámy z let 2022 a 2023 ovšem ještě neskládá zbraně. „Jsme na tom teď hodně podobně. Tadej neporazitelný není, Tour ještě neskončila,“ prohlásil Vingegaard.

Jediný český zástupce Pavel Bittner dojel na 133. místě s mankem přes 42 minut a s přehledem stihl časový limit. V průběhu etapy odstoupil španělský vrchař Enric Mas, ještě před ní závod musela vzdát další španělská naděje Carlos Rodríguez. Desátý jezdec průběžného pořadí si totiž při středečním pádu zlomil pánev.

V pátek je na programu poslední horská zkouška. V 19. etapě o pouhých 130 kilometrech je na programu hned pět náročných stoupání včetně dvou nejvyšší kategorie. Na závěr prověří cyklista 19kilometrové cílové stoupání na La Plagne se sklonem 7,2 procenta.
