War das der Grund für unser EM-Aus?

Deutschland musste sich am Mittwochabend im Halbfinale der Frauen-EM nach großem Kampf geschlagen geben, verlor mit 0:1 nach Verlängerung gegen Spanien.

Tragische Figur im DFB-Team: Torhüterin Ann-Katrin Berger (34). Sie besorgte erst mit zahlreichen Paraden die Verlängerung und patzte dann beim Gegentreffer entscheidend.

Spaniens Aitana Bonmatí überrumpelte Berger beim 0:1 im kurzen Eck – Zufall oder Absicht? Die spanische Siegtorschützin hat jetzt ein spannendes Detail zu ihrem Treffer verraten.

[–>Bonmatí gibt an, Berger im Vorfeld genau studiert zu haben: „Wir haben sie analysiert und sind zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass der kurze Pfosten manchmal verwaist ist. Ich habe keine Sekunde gezögert.“

Auch Nationaltrainerin Montserrat Tomé bestätigte die gezielte Vorbereitung: „Zusammen mit Carlos, dem Torwarttrainer, haben wir beobachtet, dass Berger bei Flanken oder Schüssen einen Schritt nach rechts machte und damit die kurze Seite ungeschützt ließ.“

DFB-Torhüterin Berger nahm nach dem Spiel die Schuld auf sich. „Es ist meine Schuld, ich bin enttäuscht von mir selbst. Es tut mir furchtbar leid, dass ich in dem Moment nicht da sein konnte. Die Mannschaft hätte es so verdient, im Finale zu stehen“, so die deutsche Nummer 1.

Trotzdem musste Bonmatí der großartigen Leistung von Berger Tribut zollen: „Sie hat auf sehr hohem Niveau gespielt. Wir hatten das Gefühl, dass sie jeden unserer Schüsse halten würde.“

Jetzt geht es für Spanien am Sonntag (18 Uhr) gegen Titelverteidiger England um den EM-Titel. Bonmatí vor dem Endspiel: „Ich glaube nicht an Schicksal, ich glaube an meine Arbeit, an meine Mentalität. Ich habe hier und zu Hause sehr breite Unterstützung erfahren. Dafür bin ich immer dankbar.“

Nach dem Abpfiff des Halbfinals hatten Bonmatí und die Spanierinnen aber zunächst nicht das Finale im Kopf: „Wir haben eine brutale Europameisterschaft gespielt. Das verdient es, gefeiert zu werden. An England denken wir morgen.“
