A transferência gira em torno de £ 65 milhões (cerca de R$ 482 milhões), de acordo com o jornal inglês The Sun. O acordo prevê o pagamento de £ 54,8 milhões (R$ 407 milhões) à vista, com o restante em metas por desempenho, como número de gols e uma possível conquista da Premier League, somando cerca de £ 10 milhões (R$ 74 milhões) em bônus.
Gyokeres vai assinar contrato por cinco temporadas com o clube de Londres, após realizar exames médicos previstos para o fim de semana. A negociação ficou ameaçada nos últimos dias, quando o Sporting se recusou a cumprir um acordo verbal de liberação do jogador por £ 60 milhões.
Inconformado com o impasse, o atacante chegou a dizer que não jogaria nem treinaria mais pelo clube português.
