Shilo Sanders isn’t the Buccaneers’ UDFA with the best shot at making the roster

Reaching the NFL is an arduous process. Not every player makes it.

While it is a dream nurtured since childhood, achieving that goal is far from guaranteed. For those who go undrafted, opportunities still exist, but the challenge becomes even greater.

Shilo Sanders shows impressive boxing skills that could give a hint of his life after football

At times, it may seem as though final rosters are set long before training camps begin. Yet when players showcase their potential, hunger for success, and relentless drive, they can force teams to create space for them, carving out a real chance to secure a spot once the season starts.

Equally critical is how scouts evaluate their talent, often long before they even arrive at camp. Prospects are assessed and profiled in advance.

There are a lot of different avenues these college players have to maximize their careers,”… “The guys have an opportunity to go back to school and get more playing time, get more experience, or maybe go back for financial reasons with NIL opportunities, or maybe they have an extra year because of COVID.

Bengals senior personnel executive Trey Brown told reporters, and added.

All of the above are reasons why there are more guys in this year’s draft class who had draft grades and ultimately didn’t get drafted.

For this reason, some teams sign undrafted players they believe can perform well – or even exceed expectations – giving them a legitimate shot to compete for roster spots.

Those are the guys we want to target. The guys we have real draft grades on. That’s where we start. Trying to get them to the roster,” Brown continued. “We use the same process we use on the guys we draft. How do they fit our scheme, and can they make an impact?

The reasons these prospects went undrafted vary, and often extend beyond anyone’s full understanding. Still, openings do emerge for talented players capable of seizing the moment.

Players vying to stick in the NFL

Several undrafted players across the league are fighting to prove themselves and potentially earn a place in the NFL through their performances in training camp. Here is a look at some of them:

  • Arizona Cardinals: DL Elijah Simmons
  • Atlanta Falcons: WR Nick Nash
  • Baltimore Ravens: LB Jay Higgins
  • Buffalo Bills: LB Keonta Jenkins
  • Carolina Panthers: LB Bam Martin-Scott
  • Chicago Bears: DB Tysheem Johnson
  • Cincinnati Bengals: OT Caleb Étienne
  • Cleveland Browns: RB Ahmani Marshall
  • Dallas Cowboys: LB Justin Barron
  • Denver Broncos: OL Clay Webb
  • Detroit Lions: OL Mason Miller
  • Green Bay Packers: DL Nazir Stackhouse
  • Houston Texans: OL Eli Cox
  • Indianapolis Colts: LB Solomon DeShields
  • Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Eli Pancol
  • Kansas City Chiefs: TE Jake Briningstool
  • Las Vegas Raiders: CB John Humphrey
  • Los Angeles Chargers: WR Luke Grimm
  • Los Angeles Rams: LB Shaun Dolac
  • Miami Dolphins: CB BJ Adams
  • Minnesota Vikings: OT Logan Brown
  • New England Patriots: WR Efton Chism III
  • New Orleans Saints: Edge Jasheen Davis
  • New York Giants: S Makari Paige
  • New York Jets: DL Payton Page
  • Philadelphia Eagles: OL Hollin Pierce
  • Pittsburgh Steelers: S Sebastián Castro
  • San Francisco 49ers: CB Jakob Robinson
  • Seattle Seahawks: DL Jared Ivey
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers: S JJ Roberts
  • Tennessee Titans: WR Xavier Restrepo
  • Washington Commanders: WR Ja’Corey Brooks

And where does Shilo Sanders fit into this? For now, he must continue proving himself with Tampa Bay, hoping to earn a roster spot and finally realize his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL.

MLB playoffs 2025: Aaron Judge did his part, but the New York Yankees, once again, failed to win the World Series

NEW YORK — Statistically speaking, Aaron Judge had a nice day.In Game 4 of the ALDS, he went 2-for-4 with an intentional walk. His two outs were a strikeout and a 112-mph liner smoked right at the second baseman. He made a few nice plays in the field. MLB playoffs 2025: The Phillies won a must-win game. Did the Dodgers lose one, too?

LOS ANGELES — However this NLDS plays out — whether the Los Angeles Dodgers hold on or the Philadelphia Phillies stage the comeback of these playoffs — many will point to Kyle Schwarber's 455-foot home run that hurtled through the air and over the right-field pavilion of Dodger Stadium as the turning point.Phillies manager Rob Thomson certainly did after the game, telling reporters the blast "sort of woke everybody up and got a lot of energy going in the dugout."It was an enormous home run, yes, one that seemed to fully break the Phillies out of a malaise that had so far cost them two games in the series. However, Schwarber went on to hit a second, less numerically impressive homer, and that one might be just as important because it might as well have gone on the Game 4 […]

Predicting biggest overreactions for NFL Week 6: Browns go to Shedeur Sanders as QB1? Chiefs missing playoffs?

Overreactions after a football game are natural. Why did this team win or lose and can it continue that momentum (or end it)? Will a decision by a player end up sending his team into a downward spiral or spark it to new heights? What about the coaches? Is it necessary to fire a coach in the midst of a bad season or be patient? Same with a quarterback who is trying to retain his starting job week to week? That's the beauty of the NFL, the instant reaction to a result, then having time to think about said reaction. Overreactions are a hot topic in the NFL these days, but can we will them into existence? Perhaps, based on the results of the upcoming slate and how we predict that game this week is going to go.These overreaction predictions are a […]
