It was set to be his final season, Aaron Rodgers after a fantastic run in the NFL was ready to say goodbye to professional football after he told the Pat McAfee show that he was “pretty sure” that the 2025 season will be the end. Nevertheless, it appears to be something that changed the idea of the veteran quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Aaron Rodgers has enjoyed an illustrious NFL career, becoming a legendary figure with the Green Bay Packers, where he led the team to a Super Bowl title in 2011 and earned the game’s MVP honors. Over the years, he was also named NFL Most Valuable Player four times.
However, in recent seasons, his performance with the New York Jets has fallen short of expectations, sparking widespread speculation about a potential retirement, something he confirmed last month. Now, that decision may be changing.
Aaron Rodgers is reconsidering retirement decision
Rodgers made big headlines last month, after the 41 year-old QB announce his retirement. In the Pat McAfee show where he said, “That’s why we just did a one-year deal. Steelers didn’t need to, you know, put any extra years on that or anything. So, this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.” Rodgers told.
The team has officially kicked off the first day of training camp, beginning preparations for a season filled with high expectations. With hopes of delivering a strong performance this year, all eyes were on the opening sessions. It was there that Aaron Rodgers took a moment to speak, making comments that resonated strongly and added further intrigue to the team’s outlook.
Now, everything has changed. At the start of training camp in Latrobe, the veteran quarterback announced that he’s leaving the door open for a possible return in the 2026 season, a statement that sparked intrigue and largely positive reactions. Rodgers made the comment during a brief response to reporters, hinting that his retirement might not be final after all.
Another big change for Aaron Rodgers in the preseason training
Aaron Rodgers is aiming to make this a memorable year, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future beyond the upcoming season. Fully suited up and focused during training camp, the veteran quarterback is putting in the work.
Throughout his NFL career, Rodgers has consistently worn the Schutt Air XP Q11 helmet. However, during the offseason, that model failed to meet updated league safety regulations, forcing a change to his gear.
As a result, Rodgers has been using the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II during the preseason, an alternative helmet model currently under review by the NFL. Despite the league’s recommendations, Rodgers has opted for this helmet, prioritizing comfort and protection as he prepares for a potentially defining season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for a new season and are currently preparing for their upcoming preseason matchups. Their first test will come on August 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a game that promises plenty of excitement as both teams look to fine-tune their rosters ahead of the regular season.
