Hunter looks scary in both sides of the ball and former NFL player calls him future Hall of Famer
A big part of that will include improving the defensive side of the ball: the Jaguars ranked 31st of 32 teams in yards allowed (389.9 yards per game) in 2024, 28th in points allowed and last in takeaways.
Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who’s entering his first season as Jacksonville‘s defensive coordinator, is installing an aggressive defense. The coordinator and scheme continue to draw praise from veterans, with the Jaguars having struggled recenlty.

Travis Hunter looks scary in both sides of the ball
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter is showing why he’s one of the most hyped players of the NFL 2025 regular season. He’s making highlight plays on both offense and defense, leaving teammates and coaches impressed.
Travis Hunter gets humbled by Jaguars teammates to remind him that he’s just a rookie
Former NFL safety Ryan Clark couldn’t hide his excitement, calling Hunter “Hall of Fame talent” on social media. The ESPN analyst says that the Heisman Trophy winner was born to play cornerback first, even if he’s also making plays as a wide receiver.
During Monday’s session, Hunter caught a pass over the middle, stopped on a dime, and reversed field against cornerback Jourdan Lewis. With this kind of explosiveness, fans are already counting the days to see him in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Travis Hunter looks ready to shine on both sides of the ball.
Travis gives another play of the day
Rookie wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter – the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft – turned in the play of the day along with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This came relatively early in practice in a red-zone drill, with the former collegiate superstar scrambling to his left away from a rush.
The QB avoided the rush, allowing Hunter time to first run a route to the corner, then to work his way back the other way against the defense before Lawrence found him for a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone. It was a thing of beauty that fans are hoping they can see often during the regular season.
Hunter on Tuesday practiced on offense for a second consecutive day after working the previous two practices on defense and camp’s first two practices on offense. He participated in 24 snaps Tuesday – all in 11-on-11 work – and caught two passes.
