Chicago Sky fell to Washington Mystics 103-86 in a very special game, but one that left Angel Reese with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, the 23-year-old star and her team suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, dropping their record to 7-19 and placing them 12th in the WNBA standings. However, for the Chicago forward, it was not just another game.

Angel experienced a special moment
The two-time All-Star did not have her dream comeback in terms of the team’s result, but she did in terms of her personal achievements.
After missing two games due to a back injury, Reese shone at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. She was also the team’s top scorer, followed by Kamilla Cardoso with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Unfortunately, Sonia Citron‘s 28 points and Kiki Iriafen‘s 22 points meant that Tyler Marsh’s team lost the battle.
Despite this, Angel was not discouraged, as she had a precious fan watching her for the first time since she joined the WNBA: her grandmother.
Using her official Instagram account, Reese shared a photo of herself receiving a kiss on the cheek.
“My whole entire heart,” the Sky forward began, along with a double heart emoji and a face holding back tears. “The first WNBA game my grandma has ever seen me play,” she revealed in a second text.
In the photo, the forward is still wearing her team uniform and white headband. Meanwhile, her grandmother wore a black Chicago team T-shirt over a white and light blue striped shirt, which curiously matched her blue glasses. She also completed her look with gold earrings.
This photo not only shows us a sweet and warm family moment, but also reveals that, in some way, the player’s outstanding sense of fashion may have been inherited from her grandmother.
Now, Reese and Sky must prepare to face the Golden State Valkyries (12-13) next Friday, August 1, at Wintrust Arena.

NBA coaches on the hot seat? Front-office changes ahead? Here are 5 franchises to watch in ’25-26
As the 2025-26 NBA season is about to tip off, we'll soon learn which teams work, and which teams will be forced to make alterations in the future. But that doesn't mean we can't guess our way to something beforehand about the current outlooks of certain franchises that might need organizational changes soon. Here are five teams to keep an eye on.Heat: What's the plan, Pat?All right, all right. It's unfair to pin the latest round of mediocrity on just Pat Riley, as GM Andy Elisburg also has some serious sway in the organization. Yet you have to wonder how long the Heat can maintain their steadfast refusal to rebuild. They have good players, and quite a few of them, but they simply do not have in their possession a player who can carry them into the Finals now that […]

Steelers vs. Bengals live updates: NFL ‘Thursday Night Football’ score, prediction, odds and latest
The last time DK Metcalf came to Cincinnati, the Bengals asked Cam Taylor-Britt to follow him around all day. He’s the most physical cornerback on the roster, almost ideally built to handle the rugged style Metcalf can use to win matchups. Taylor-Britt owned the day. Metcalf only caught four of nine targets for 69 yards and got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, taking out his frustration on the Cincinnati corner in a 17-13 loss. Since then, Taylor-Britt has fallen off dramatically. He’s on the brink of being benched a fourth time after critical mistakes in the loss at Green Bay last week. The top corner on the Bengals’ roster right now is DJ Turner, but at a slightly 5-11, 185 pounds, how much will defensive coordinator Al Golden choose to travel him with Metcalf given the differing styles? Golden also has […]
