O Flamengo tem sido protagonista entre os clubes brasileiros nesta janela de transferências. Reforços milionários vindos da Europa são a estratégia adotada pelo Rubro-Negro. Um deles foi o lateral-direito Emerson Royal, que chegou do Milan, da Itália, por 9 milhões de euros (R$ 58 milhões), para substituir Wesley, que foi para a Roma.
O que poucos torcedores sabem, e descobriram nos últimos dias, é que, mesmo sem ter jogado profissionalmente pelo clube, Emerson Royal tem história com o Grêmio, tanto nas categorias de base quanto depois de já ter virado profissional.
Royal passou pela base do Grêmio
Em um dos vídeos de apresentação de Emerson Royal, a Flamengo TV mostra o jogador conhecendo as instalações do Ninho do Urubu e, depois, ele concede uma entrevista exclusiva ao clube. Em um dos trechos, o lateral conta sua trajetória no futebol e menciona a passagem pelo Grêmio.
“Fiz base no Palmeiras, quando eu tinha 10 anos. Saí e fui para o Independente, de Limeira, joguei o Paulista e fui para o São Paulo. Fiquei três anos e meio no São Paulo, com 15 anos fui mandado embora e fui para o Grêmio, e, no mesmo ano, fui mandado embora do Grêmio também. Estava triste e até passou na minha cabeça em desistir”, contou.
Depois da dispensa do Grêmio, Royal voltou para Americana, no interior de São Paulo, onde morava, e, incentivado pelos pais, fez teste na Ponte Preta. Aprovado, foi na equipe de Campinas que ele terminou a trajetória na base e estreou no profissional, em 2017.
Royal afirma ter recusado o Grêmio
Em outro momento, Emerson Royal já afirmou que recusou o Grêmio durante a carreira. Em um vídeo com perguntas rápidas, feito pelo youtuber Silvonei Santos, o jogador foi perguntado: “Um time que você recusou na carreira?”, e ele escolheu o Tricolor Gaúcho.
Sem precisar justificar a resposta, Royal acabou não detalhando como foi essa recusa ao Grêmio, nem quando isso aconteceu. A possibilidade levantada pelo Portal do Gremista é que esse interesse tenha ocorrido antes da ida do jogador à Europa, enquanto esteve na Ponte Preta ou no Atlético-MG.
