After months of contract negotiations that apparently never really happened, Micah Parsons has had enough. On Friday, the All-Pro pass-rusher officially requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, putting an extremely negative spotlight on the organization. Owner Jerry Jones is the one who comes out looking the worst in all of this, and it appears they may be no turning back now.
Parsons claims he wanted to negotiate a deal a long time ago, in order to get it secured and focus on his future with the franchise. But the Cowboys front office kept waiting and waiting, reaching radio silence this summer despite what should have actually been urgency on the part of the organization. Parsons also hasn’t been fond of the way Jones and co. have spoken about him and some other players in recent weeks.

With all of this going on, Jones and the Cowboys need any type of positive spin they can muster up for the national media. That seems impossible, but they certainly gave it a try, attempting to bury the Parsons news by making a roster move: they signed offensive lineman La’el Collins.
Collins spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys before leaving for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. Injuries have played a big role in Collins not being able to latch on as a contributing player over the past two seasons. The Cowboys are hoping that will change in a second stint with the team.
Collins will provide depth for a Cowboys offensive line that is no stranger to injuries. Offensive tackle Tyler Guyton is currently out with with a fractured knee that puts his Week 1 status at risk.
