Lexie Hull ‘hits’ Caitlin Clark after proving that the Indiana Fever star isn’t as good as everyone thinks

The Indiana Fever‘s Lexie Hull has once again stole the spotlight from teammate Caitlin Clark, though this time not on the basketball court, but in a fiercely contested online social media competiton.

In a video released by the team, Hull defeated Clark 2-1 in a best-of-three flip cup tic-tac-toe match, triggering a playful but pointed rivalry that quickly gained attention among WNBA fans.

Although Clark entered the game full of confidence, asserting that she was “sure” she would win, her performance fell flat as Hull showcased better reflexes, sharper execution, and strategic composure.

The talented guard’s early advantage in the second round proved irrelevant as her 25-year-old colleague made a swift comeback clinching the deciding round without allowing Clark to line up a single cup.

“I needed better competition,” Hull quipped after the game, taking the chance to gloat whilst Clark could only humbly respond by confessing it wasn’t her best showing.

But what began as a light-hearted locker-room activity quickly became a viral moment as Hull doubled down on her trolling, referencing their college basketball past.

Posting on social media Lexie wrote: “@stanford > @uiowa,” reviving the Stanford-Iowa rivalry that fans of both programs remember well.

While Caitlin is undoubtedly one of the most popular names in the WNBA, her recent absence has allowed teammates like Lexie to shine during her extended period of leave for injury.

Since suffering a right groin injury against the New York Liberty on July 15, she has missed the five successive games since and has now sought a second medical opinion during a trip to New York.

Although their star guard is on the sideline, Indiana has found surprising consistency. The Fever have won three of their last four games since the All-Star break, including key victories over the Las Vegas Aces and Phoenix Mercury.

Aari McDonald scored a career-high 27 points in the win against Phoenix, while Aliyah Boston continued her dominance with 22 points and 12 rebounds-her fourth consecutive double-double.

The Fever now stand at 15-12 heading into their August 1 matchup against the Dallas Wings. With Paige Bueckers leading the Wings, Indiana faces a crucial test on the road in Dallas, the first of four straight away games.

Caitlin Clark injury update: Will she play against the Dallas Wings on August 1?

The Fever now stand at 15-12 heading into their August 1 matchup against the Dallas Wings. With Paige Bueckers leading the Wings, Indiana faces a crucial test on the road in Dallas, the first of four straight away games.

And through 13 appearances this season, Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals making her a key component to Stephanie White‘s group of girls. So, will she be available to play against the Wings?

The answer for her fans is sadly not. There is no confirmed timeline for her return and the Indiana Fever have made it clear they have no intention of rushing her back from injury. The WNBA Playoffs are scheduled to begin on September 14.
