The Chiefs can’t forget the painful Super Bowl loss
It’s no secret that the pace of training camp can be grueling, with intense heat wearing down players as they give their all, but finding motivation within the Chiefs isn’t hard. They only need to recall that Super Bowl defeat.
Wide receiverJuJu Smith-Schuster spoke about the mental approach after losing the Super Bowl, something that hasn’t been easy to process, but they’re ready for another shot at the big game.
“It’s tough when this team has high expectations, going to the AFC Championship, going to the Super Bowl and expecting to win,” Smith-Schuster said. “When you lose like that, it’s not a good feeling. So, you have that motivation of that’s what we’re chasing, we want to get back there. And for us, playing against that team, they’re a very great team. So, for us to have another opportunity against them this year would be great.”
The Chiefs won’t have to wait long to face the Eagles again. Their schedule has them matched up in Week 2 at Arrowhead, giving them an early chance to seek revenge.
Several analysts and experts doubt the Chiefs as Super Bowl contenders, particularly due to concerns about the offensive line and wide receivers, but no one can count them out after their dominance in recent years.
To the misfortune of the rest of the NFL, the Chiefs still have Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback, along with one of the best defenses led by Steve Spagnuolo, and the mastermind of Andy Reid. So, it’s impossible to write this team off.
