Kapitän Sebastian Schonlau (30) trommelt seine Kollegen im Trainingslager in Herzogenaurach zu einem Kreis zusammen. Dann übernimmt Yussuf Poulsen (31) das Kommando. Der Däne hält nach seiner ersten Einheit mit seinen neuen Mitspielern eine Rede. Seine Botschaft: Ich bin gekommen, um mit dem HSV etwas zu reißen. Daraufhin gibt es Applaus.

Allein dieses Beispiel zeigt, warum der Hamburger SV den Stürmer von RB Leipzig holte. Poulsen soll beim Aufsteiger als Anführer vorangehen. Denn der Umbruch ist gewaltig. Bei der Suche nach neuen Spielern gibt es zwei Prinzipien: Der HSV will Spieler, die dem Klub einerseits schnell einen Impact geben. Andererseits werden auch Profis gesucht, die sich perspektivisch entwickeln und später im Optimalfall einen hohen Marktwert haben.

Bestes Beispiel: Ludovit Reis (25). Er kam 2021 ablösefrei vom FC Barcelona II, entwickelte sich zum Führungsspieler und wurde diesen Sommer für sechs Millionen Euro an Champions-League-Teilnehmer Club Brügge verkauft.

Rund 1,5 Mio. Euro betrug die Ablöse für Poulsen. Der Angreifer gilt mit seinen 31 Jahren nicht mehr als Wertanlage. Er soll sofort weiterhelfen. Per Zufall erfuhr Hamburgs Sport-Direktor Claus Costa (41) beim Smalltalk mit RB-Verantwortlichen, als es im Spät-Frühling um die Verpflichtung von RB-Nachwuchskeeper Fernando Dickes (17) ging, dass Leipzig seinen Kader verjüngen und deshalb Spieler wie Poulsen abgeben will.

Für den HSV eine Top-Info. Schnell wurden alle Spiele Poulsens aus der Saison 2024/25 von den Scouts ausgewertet. Das Urteil: Auch wenn der Angreifer kein Stammspieler in Leipzig mehr war, kann er für Hamburg sportlich enorm wichtig werden.

Bereits ein Jahr zuvor wollte der HSV den schnellen Offensivmann von der Eintracht holen. Damals war er mit über fünf Millionen Euro zu teuer, jetzt bekam der HSV ihn für die Hälfte – weil er eine Ausstiegsklausel hatte. Er ist für Hamburg auch eine Wertanlage (aktueller Marktwert: 3,5 Mio.). Der Klub verspricht sich von dem Franzosen eine hohe Rendite.

Viel erwarten die Bosse auch von Nicolai Remberg (25). Der Mittelfeldspieler kam von Absteiger Holstein Kiel. In diesem Fall profitierte Costa erneut von seinem guten Netzwerk. Der Sportdirektor erfuhr früh, dass der Mann aus Rheine in Westfalen wegen einer Ausstiegsklausel für 2,1 Mio. Euro Ablöse zu bekommen war. Schnell wurde der HSV aktiv – mit Erfolg.

Die Hamburger hatten Remberg bereits seit der Saison 2020/21 auf ihrer Scoutingliste, als er in der Regionalliga bei Preußen Münster hervorstach und sich stets weiterentwickelte. Ein wichtiges Kriterium für die Verpflichtung war für den HSV zudem, dass Remberg in den vergangenen Jahren nie verletzt war. Die interne Einschätzung: Das ist ein hohes Gut für einen Spieler.

Lange auf dem Schirm hatte Hamburgs Kaderplaner auch Jordan Torunarigha (27) – da war Costa noch Scout bei Bayer Leverkusen (2017 bis 2019). Am Ende holte Leverkusen den talentierten Verteidiger nicht, Torunarigha wurde bei Hertha Profi, ging 2022 nach Gent.

Costa verfolgte ihn weiter. Dabei sind ihm Chefscout Sebastian Dirscherl (39) und dessen Team eine wichtige Hilfe gewesen, sie erstellen regelmäßig Leistungsberichte möglicher Kandidaten, schauen sie sich mehrmals live an. Als der Aufstieg feststand, suchte der HSV nach einem neuen deutschsprachigen Abwehrchef mit Bundesliga-Erfahrung – und kam sofort auf den ablösefreien Torunarigha, der auch bei Union Berlin Thema war.

2,1 Mio. Euro musste der HSV für Nicolás Capaldo (26) von RB Salzburg auf den Tisch legen. Gut investiertes Geld, findet Trainer Merlin Polzin (34), denn der Mittelfeldmann fällt positiv in der Vorbereitung auf. Dass der Argentinier beim HSV landete, lag an seiner Zeit in Österreich. Denn in Südamerika scoutet der HSV nicht intensiv, weil Spieler von dort in der Regel zu teuer sind. Der Kernmarkt ist Europa.

Auch Capaldo hat der HSV seit Jahren auf seiner Liste. Doch erst mit dem Aufstieg wurden solche Transfers realisierbar, weil nicht jeder Spieler dieser Kategorie in die 2. Liga wechselt.

Darum konnte der HSV auch Torhüter Daniel Peretz (25) vom FC Bayern ausleihen. In diesem Fall half dem HSV erneut sein Netzwerk. Ex-HSV-Torwart Jaroslav Drobny (45), der heute Torwart-Trainer der zweiten Mannschaft des FC Bayern ist, konnte viel Gutes über Peretz berichten.
