What did Mascherano say about Messi’s contract renewal?
“We all have the illusion that he will stay. We have the illusion that he can renew. In the end, the issue of Leo clearly we all have the illusion that officially Leo can renew his contract, it will be a decision of him and the club, something that obviously they will be talking about or have been talking about for some time in private,” Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano. “When they feel it is appropriate for them to reach an agreement, they will say so. The rest of us can only say that I also read the same rumors yesterday, and obviously we are hopeful that he can renew and stay here at the club for a long time,” said Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano.

“But everyone tries to be the protagonist. It’s a league where normally playing away from home is a little bit more difficult than normal because of the travel. So, all that makes it quite even. In fact, if you look at the two conferences, beyond the fact that there are some teams that are fighting for the top spot, the vast majority are still in with a chance of making the Playoffs, with a third of the competition remaining.”
“So, I think it’s interesting, I like it a lot. I see that there is, above all, a very good level of coaches. I hadn’t paid attention to that, especially when I was looking at it from the outside. Nowadays you see many teams that already have an identity, that play in a certain way, even coaches who have changed teams this year and have already given that identity to their new teams.
