While Christian McCaffrey gears up for another grueling NFL season, he’s making it clear who the real MVP is at home-his wife, Olivia Culpo.
The San Francisco 49ers star running back opened up about the early days of fatherhood and gave a heartfelt shout-out to Culpo, who recently gave birth to their daughter, Colette Annalise McCaffrey, on July 13.
“She’s been great. She’s been so cool… I feel guilty at times,” McCaffrey admitted during training camp. “I’m sleeping well in the hotel bedroom while she’s doing the dirty work, but super thankful for it-and she’s doing an incredible job.”
Culpo, 33, has been at home adjusting to life as a first-time mom while McCaffrey has rejoined the 49ers for preseason preparations. But she hasn’t gone without backup: both sides of the family are pitching in to help the new parents juggle their intense schedules.
Christian has always been by her side
The couple’s joy was shared with fans earlier this month when they posted a series of tender photos to announce their daughter’s birth. Among them: a powerful shot of McCaffrey holding Culpo’s hand as she underwent a C-section.
Culpo also returned the love in a sweet Instagram story that melted hearts online. “Best daddy in the world goes to camp today,” she wrote with a crying emoji. “We’re going to miss him so much.”
Her road to motherhood, however, wasn’t easy. The former Miss USA and Miss Universe has been candid about the harrowing challenges of her pregnancy.
A challenging pregnancy
In a TikTok from March, Culpo revealed that she battled pneumonia and was on bed rest for nearly a month. She later developed a subchorionic hematoma, a dangerous condition involving bleeding between the uterine wall and the embryo sac.
“I was so exhausted… two weeks of just not being able to move and then all of a sudden just purging,” she recalled. “It was a lot. It was heavy… I went to the doctor and it was really exciting to see that there was still a heartbeat.”
Now, with a healthy baby girl at home and McCaffrey back on the field with the Niners, the couple is embracing the chaos and the beauty of new parenthood-proving that love, resilience, and family are the ultimate game-changers.
