Šeško za dvě sezony v Lipsku odehrál 87 soutěžních zápasů a vstřelil 39 branek, v minulé sezoně byl nejlepším střelcem mužstva. Hráč s 41 reprezentačními starty a 16 góly předtím působil v Salcburku, kde třikrát slavil rakouský titul. Za vyšší částku odešel ze saského klubu dosud jen chorvatský obránce Joško Gvardiol, za něhož v roce 2023 zaplatil Manchester City 90 milionů eur.
O 195 centimetrů vysokého Šeška měl velký zájem také Newcastle. Slovinec nakonec posílí konkurenta, který v minulé sezoně zaznamenal na 15. místě anglické ligy nejhorší výsledek za posledních 51 let a pracuje na přestavbě týmu. V létě už angažoval další ofenzivní hráče Brazilce Matheuse Cunhu a Kamerunce Bryana Mbeuma.
Villarreal přivedl Parteye
Villarreal angažoval ghanského fotbalistu Thomase Parteye, kterému v létě vypršela smlouva v Arsenalu. Dvaatřicetiletý defenzivní záložník, jenž momentálně v Anglii čelí obvinění ze znásilnění a na svobodě je na kauci, se ve španělském klubu dohodl na roční smlouvě. Oznámili to zástupci Villarrealu, Partey se k mužstvu připojí už na pátečním tréninku.
„Klub si je vědom toho, že hráč je v současnosti v Anglii zapleten do soudního řízení. Respektujeme presumpci neviny jako základní princip a počkáme na verdikt soudu,“ uvedl Villarreal a dodal, že se dál k probíhajícímu řízení nebude vyjadřovat.
Partey byl v červenci obviněn z pěti případů znásilnění a jednoho případu sexuálního napadení proti celkem třem ženám. Skutků se údajně dopustil v letech 2021 a 2022. Soud tento týden rozhodl, že hráč, jenž vinu jednoznačně odmítl, může do skončení řízení zůstat na svobodě. Uložil mu kauci, v rámci jejíchž podmínek se nesmí přiblížit ke svým údajným obětem a musí soud informovat o změně adresy či cestách do zahraničí. K soudu by se měl znovu dostavit 2. září.
Za Arsenal nastupoval Partey od roku 2020, kdy přišel z Atlética Madrid. Odehrál v jeho dresu 167 zápasů a dal devět gólů.
