The offseason hasn’t gone as planned for Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins. Just days before the team’s NFL preseason debut against the Chicago Bears, the explosive wide receiver has suffered a pair of injuries that have kept him out of practice.
Hill is no stranger to headlines-whether it’s personal controversies, bold statements, or jaw-dropping plays, the “Cheetah” always finds a way to stay in the spotlight.
This time, however, the news is far from celebratory. Hill was sidelined from practice for the second time this week, raising concerns about his availability for Sunday’s game. Still, head coach Mike McDaniel remains cautiously optimistic.
Hill misses Friday’s practice
According to David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Hill missed Friday’s joint practice with the Bears due to an oblique injury. McDaniel explained that the injury stemmed from Hill’s intense workload.
Earlier in the week, Hill collided with cornerback Ethan Bonner, briefly forcing him out of practice. While that incident alone might not have raised alarms, Hill also missed Wednesday’s session with an undisclosed injury.
Now, with two absences in one week, fans and analysts are beginning to speculate whether this could be the start of a more serious issue for Hill and the Dolphins.
Hill refuses to sit out
Despite medical advice, Hill is determined to keep training. “He’s trying to practice,” McDaniel said. “He’s working through an oblique that got worse because he was taking every rep that was on the books.”
Since the injury, Hill has only participated in light workouts and has been held out of team drills. Still, McDaniel noted with a chuckle, “He’s trying to sneak his way into taking every rep,” highlighting Hill’s relentless drive and leaving the door open for a possible appearance on Sunday.
