Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers are suffering with injuries. This time it has been reported that Tommy Edman twisted his right ankle in the first game against the Tampa Bay Rays last Sunday, the same ankle that kept him out for half of May earlier this season. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed the star’s return schedule
For the Angels manager, the issue of injuries has caused him severe headaches since the start of the season and with less than two months to go before the start of the playoffs he is still dealing with this problem. In Edman’s case, he commented: “It will probably be sometime in September,” said Roberts, who also has pitcher Roki Sasaki out of action and recently recovered Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman.

Tommy Edman with little history with MLB champions
Edman joined the Dodgers in 2024 from the St. Louis Cardinals, where he also struggled with injuries. While he has stayed healthy over the past two seasons, he has been an asset to the reigning MLB champions both offensively and, especially, defensively. The second baseman has hovered around the league average batting average over the past two seasons, with an OPS of .711 in 2024 and an OPS of .677 this season. He has 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 86 games this year, and has completed the lineup excellently.
Defensively, he has been an elite second baseman all season long. He ranks in the top 10% of MLB in Fielding Run Value with a mark of seven, and ranks in the 94th percentile in Outs Above Average, also with seven.
Four months into the season and Dave Roberts has yet to create a fixed lineup
Los Los Angeles Dodgers are struggling to find depth in the infield due to a plethora of injuries in August, as both Hyeseong Kim and Kike Hernandez, who can play second base, are out. In their absence, the Dodgers have turned to Alex Freeland, who has been used primarily as a utility player since his promotion, and Miguel Rojas to cover the void. The Dodgers will have to continue without Edman during a crucial month of August as they continue to fend off the San Diego Padres in the National League West Division.
The Dodgers’ division lead increased to three games after their victory and the Padres’ loss on Friday, although the task is not yet complete. The Dodgers will face the Padres in two series before the end of the month, and will likely be without Edman in either. They will look to extend their division lead against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday at 6:10 p.m. (PT), just a week before their first series of the second half against the Padres.

Jenže v posledních dvou letech sešel z očí veřejnosti.Předloňskou sezonu se vrátil do Bostonu, ale odehrál jen čtyři zápasy. V polovině listopadu jej totiž zadržela policie s podezřením, že se dopustil násilí na své partnerce. Podle policejní zprávy byl obviněn z pokusu o uškrcení své manželky.Hokej pro něj v tu chvíli skončil. V únoru loňského roku bylo sice obvinění staženo, ale Lucic nastoupil do asistenčního programu NHL a v lize se od té doby neobjevil.
