Sie standen mächtig unter Druck. Und haben bei der Handball-WM der U19-Junioren in Ägypten prächtig auf diese Situation reagiert!
Die Auswahl des Deutschen Handballbundes (DHB) steht bei der WM in der Hauptrunde. In letzten Vorrundenspiel wurden die Slowenen 30:25 (11:14) nach der Pause eindrucksvoll geschlagen.

Handball-WM: Deutsche Jungs plötzlich Männer
Bundestrainer Erik Wudtke (53) sah einen Wandel quasi über Nacht, er verglich das 28:28 am Freitag gegen die Färöer mit dem Sieg am Samstag gegen Slowenien: „Gestern haben wir Jugendhandball gespielt, heute haben wir den Schritt zum Männerhandball vollzogen. Ich bin froh, dass wir eine Reaktion gezeigt haben.“
Der Coach weiter: „Das ist das Tolle an einer WM, dass man als Mannschaft sehr schnell lernen muss, wenn man erfolgreich sein will. Jetzt gilt es aber, das fortzusetzen und uns weiterzuentwickeln. Es ist toll, dass wir mit zwei Punkten in die Hauptrunde gehen.“
Das ist der hervorragende Nebenaspekt eines Spiels, das die DHB-Auswahl nach der Pause in bemerkenswerter Manier drehte. Hinten vernagelte Torwart Finn Knaack (früher HSVH, jetzt TuSEM Essen) seine Kiste (18 Paraden!), vorne schlug der DHB zu.
[–>„Wir haben in der Pause gesagt, wir dürfen nicht hektisch werden, da wir 30 Minuten haben, um drei Tore aufzuholen”, erklärt Wudtke. „Natürlich hat uns in die Karten gespielt, dass Finn zu Beginn der zweiten Halbzeit die Rollladen runtergemacht hat. So konnten wir einfache Tore machen und waren dann im Kopf der Slowenen.“
In Hauptrundengruppe 3 geht es für Wudtkes Team ab Montag gegen Frankreich und Norwegen (Dienstag) weiter. Durch den Sieg gegen Slowenien nimmt der DHB zwei wichtige Punkte mit in die nächste Runde.
Wudtke: „Wir freuen uns auf die neuen Chancen und werden nach dem Ruhetag am Sonntag, den wir auch brauchen, voller Tatendrang in die Hauptrunde gehen.“
