Shedeur Sanders can finally celebrate as he just had his debut game for the Cleveland Browns in their preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers last Friday night.
At the Cleveland Browns Stadium, Sanders played well and with much cool, fueling conversations between fans talking about his future with the team.

He got an opportunity and he took it
He was lucky enough to start the game, a job few thought he was meant to get soon as he was always doubted as first choice. Sanders completed14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 19 more yards. His throws were on point, he made quick choices, and he could move well, keeping the play alive against Carolina’s tough defense.
This big moment follows a big change in the Browns’ list of quarterbacks. Just weeks ago, Sanders was seen as maybe the fourth choice behind Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel. But with Pickett out cause of injury and Sanders doing better than many expected in training, head coach Kevin Stefanski could do nothing more than picking the rookie to start.

A promising career in front of him
The young quarterback has been one to watch since his top-tier college days at Colorado, where he broke many passing records with his dad as coach. Standing out for his strong arms, eagle precision, and leadership skills, Sanders came into the league with many fans hoping he would do well, and his first game shows he is worthy of his reputation.
Off the field, his biggest fan, Pilar Sanders, shared her joy with an emotional note on Instagram. With Shedeur’s song “Perfect Timing” playing, her post shared the family’s pride and hope in his path. The choice of song clicked with fans, who see his move to the start as a good mix of hard work meeting opportunity.
With Shedeur, everything gets easier
While it is still early in the preseason, Sanders’ performance has made Browns fans hopeful for a stable quarterback. Social media filled up with clips of his touchdowns, talks comparing him to his dad’s big game spirit, and chats about if he can keep the job when Pickett comes back.
If Sanders keeps up this good start, he might secure his spot for the 2025 season and become a key part of the Browns’ future plans. For now, though, Cleveland is enjoying a debut that maybe means even more than people hoped.
