Was macht ein ehemaliger hochrangiger Manager einer deutschen Bank nach seinem Karriere-Ende im Finanz-Sektor? Er wechselt auf und hinter die Bank eines Klubs in der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga.
Die TSV Hannover-Burgdorf hat sich im Staff rund um ihr Bundesliga-Team neu aufgestellt. Die Niedersachsen haben neue Betreuer, einer davon hat beruflich eine bemerkenswerte Vita hinter sich.

Dieser Handball-Betreuer bewegte früher Millionen
Karl Niggemeier war fast 40 Jahre für ein bekanntes deutsches Kreditinstitut in leitenden Funktionen tätig. Im Januar 2025 ging er in der Vorruhestand. Andere Vorruheständler würden jetzt die Füße legen und das Leben genießen. Aber nicht Niggemeier – er wechselt in den Unruhestand.
Bei der Bank trug Niggemeier viel Verantwortung über viele Millionen Euro. Ab sofort trägt er für Handball-Nationalspieler wie unter anderem Renars Uscins (23) und Justus Fischer (22) Wasserflaschen, Handtücher und Ballnetze. Aber das ist nur ein Teil seiner neuen Aufgaben.
„Ich bin quasi ein Mädchen für alles“, sagt Niggemeier über seinen Anschluss-Job. „Es geht nicht nur um die Spielkleidung der Handballer, wir organisieren im Betreuer-Team zum Beispiel auch die Auswärtsfahrten mit.“
[–>Wie kam es zu dem bemerkenswerten Berufswechsel des ehemaligen Bank-Managers? Niggemeier: „Nachdem ich in den Vorruhestand gegangen war, wurde ich von mehreren Finanzdienstleistern angesprochen, ob ich vielleicht bei ihnen arbeiten möchte. Aber 40 Jahre im Finanzsektor haben geprägt und auch gereicht.“
Über seinen Ex-Arbeitgeber hatte Niggemeier, der früher selbst im Amateurbereich Handballspieler – und Trainer war, bereits Kontakt zum Klub aus Niedersachsen. Dessen Geschäftsführer Eike Korsen (42) tütete die Neuverpflichtung ein. Niggemeier: „Ich fand die Idee einfach witzig.“
Der Ex-Manager schlägt nun zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe: „Diese neue Aufgabe hält Kopf und Körper jung. Auf dem Papier bin ich zwar 60, aber ich fühle mich deutlich jünger. In den ersten 20 Jahren meines Lebens spielte der Handball eine große Rolle, danach 40 Jahre der Job bei der Bank. Jetzt wären nochmal 20 Jahre Handball sehr schön.“
