Tritt er jetzt die Flucht an?
Füchse-Top-Talent Max Beneke (22) hatte letzte Saison die größte Herausforderung in der Handball-Bundesliga: den Konkurrenzkampf mit Mathias Gidsel (26). Beide spielen im rechten Rückraum – und der Welthandballer stand beim Deutschen Meister fast durchgängig auf der Platte.
[–>Beneke: „Hier bei den Füchsen muss und will man jedes Spiel gewinnen. Da ist klar, dass man mit Mathias immer ins Spiel geht. Aber da muss ich mich dann halt umschauen, wie ich das weiter mache. Deshalb sehe ich da jetzt anders drauf als im Dezember.“
Damals hatte Beneke eine mögliche Leihe abgelehnt, wollte sich der Herausforderung stellen. Jetzt also die große Wende! Denn mit Tobias Grøndahl (24) haben die Füchse einen weiteren Rückraumspieler geholt.
Beneke erklärt: „Dadurch rutscht Fabi (Fabian Wiede, 31) eher auf die Halbrechte, dadurch sind wir jetzt halt dreifach besetzt. Mathias ist der beste Spieler der Welt, da muss man nicht viel drumherumreden.“

Und weiter: „Fabi hat’s in der Rückrunde einfach brutal stark gemacht. Die Zeit, die er bekommen hat, hat er überragend genutzt. Ich als junger Spieler brauche Einsatzzeit.“
Zuletzt schien eine Leihe zum Bergischen HC wahrscheinlich, daraus wird nichts: „Das mit dem BHC ist vom Tisch, aber vielleicht eröffnet sich noch etwas anderes. Die Situation hat sich seit Dezember ja verändert.“
Laut Informationen von SPORT BILD soll der FC Porto ein Auge auf Beneke haben, der ThSV Eisenach soll hingegen entgegen anderslautender Gerüchte kein Thema sein. Was er kann, hat Beneke bereits bewiesen: Zweitliga-Meister mit Potsdam und Torschützenkönig (287 Tore) in der Saison 2023/24, 2023 mit der U21-Nationalmannschaft Weltmeister.

Beneke: „Das habe ich mir vor der Saison natürlich anders vorgestellt.“ Allerdings sieht er immerhin den Vorteil, dass er trotz mangelnder Spielpraxis voll im Saft steht: „Aber dadurch gab es andere Bereiche, wo ich ein bisschen mehr arbeiten konnte. Im physischen Bereich, bei den Kraftwerten und Laufwerten, habe ich mich überall verbessert.“
Gut möglich, dass Beneke bald einen neuen Klub hat – und ohne Welthandballer vor der Nase sein Talent beweisen kann.

The chances of UCLA ever escaping the Bottom 25 this season looked bleak during an 0-4 start that included a pair of losses to Mountain West teams before the firing of coach DeShaun Foster.
