El senador y precandidato presidencial Miguel Uribe Turbay, de 39 años para el momento del ataque, murió el 11 de agosto de 2025 como consecuencia de las complicaciones derivadas del atentado perpetrado el 7 de junio de 2025 durante un acto de campaña en el parque El Golfito del barrio Modelia, en la localidad de Fontibón, Bogotá.
El atentado y su secuela clínica
Durante el mitin, un menor, armado con una pistola semiautomática tipo Glock de 9 mm, disparó a Uribe Turbay, quien resultó gravemente herido en la cabeza y el muslo. Fue trasladado inicialmente a un hospital en Fontibón y luego llevado a la Clínica Fundación Santa Fe, donde estuvo internado en la UCI bajo estado crítico. Fue sometido a varias cirugías, incluida una neuroquirúrgica, debido a un sangrado intracerebral severo y un edema persistente.

Abogado de formación, Miguel Uribe Turbay estudió en Harvard y fue concejal de Bogotá (2012–2015), presidente del cabildo distrital en 2014, y secretario de Gobierno de Bogotá entre 2016 y 2018. En 2022 ingresó al Senado como cabeza de lista del Centro Democrático, siendo el candidato más votado en lista abierta.
Provenía de una familia con legado político: era nieto del expresidente Julio César Turbay Ayala, y su madre, la periodista Diana Turbay, fue asesinada por el Cartel de Medellín en 1991. Al morir deja atrás a su esposa, tres hijas adoptivas y un hijo de cuatro años.
