Rondale Moore, a former secound round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, has faced a series of setbacks in his NFL career due to injuries. After missing the entire 2024 with a dislocated right knee suffered during training camp with the Atlanta Falcons, Moore signed a one year contract with the Minnesota Vikings in March 2025.
He was expected to contribute as a punt returner and a depth receiver for the Vikings. However, his return to the field was abruptly halted when he sustained a “pretty significant” left knee injury on his firstplay during the preseason opener against the Houston Texans on August 9, 2025.

Moore’s injury details and immediate reaction
The injury occurred early in the second quarter when Moore, returning a punt, was tackled by Texans linebacker Jamal Hill as he ran out of bounds after a 2 yard gain. The tackle appeared to involve a “hip-drop” maneuver, which caused Moore to land awkwardly on his left leg.
He immediately grabeed at his knee and was carted off the field. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell described the situation as “heartbreaking” and expressed deep empathy for Moore, acknowledging the emotional toll on both the player and the team.

Moore’s injury adds to a history of health setbacks throughout his football career. Previously, his development and consistency at the professional level have been hindered by various injuries.
