Coote má i další problémy spojené se svou rozhodcovskou kariérou. Fotbalová asociace ho vyšetřuje kvůli podezření, že udělil žlutou kartu kvůli sázkám. Navíc s ním UEFA zahájila vyšetřování kvůli údajnému užívání kokainu během loňského mistrovství Evropy.
