The heated contract standoff between Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones continues to dominate NFL headlines, and now another high-profile voice has joined the conversation. Jalen Ramsey, star cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, made it clear he’s siding with the All-Pro linebacker in his dispute with the Dallas Cowboys.
Parsons, who expected to secure a lucrative extension this offseason, stunned many over a month ago by requesting a trade. The reason: Jerry Jones refused to negotiate with his agent, David Mulugheta. That decision didn’t sit well with Ramsey, who is also represented by Mulugheta and calls him “the GOAT” (greatest of all time).

Wave of criticism against the Cowboys owner
Speaking on The Pivot, Ramsey didn’t hold back: “You would think they would know better… with him (Mulugheta), for sure, you’d think they know better,” he said sarcastically, making his disagreement with Jones clear. The Cowboys owner has repeatedly admitted he hasn’t spoken with the agent, defending his habit of negotiating directly with players.
Parsons, however, has been adamant: he won’t sign any contract without Mulugheta’s involvement. This has led to a complete stalemate in talks, with a resolution looking more difficult by the day.
Major negotiations in Dallas
In recent years, Jones has delayed significant deals like those for Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Zack Martin. While all eventually re-signed, the price was steep: Prescott landed a $240 million deal and Lamb signed for $136 million, making them two of the highest-paid players in the NFL at their positions.
Now, all signs point to Parsons -whether in Dallas or elsewhere- breaking records. He’s expected to sign the most lucrative contract ever for a non-quarterback in NFL history, surpassing recent deals for T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett, who helped push the defensive market higher this offseason.
What’s next for Micah Parsons?
With the season approaching, tensions between Jones and Parsons continue to mount. If Dallas doesn’t budge, the team risks losing one of the most dominant defenders in the NFL at the peak of his career.
At stake is not only the richest contract ever for a defensive player, but also the Cowboys’ image as a franchise capable of keeping its stars.
