The Dallas Cowboys season is in full swing now, with the first preseason game out of the way and players having an eye on the regular season. With Week 1 less than a month away, the vibes should be high within the organization. Instead, they are at an all-time low due to the Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons situation.
Parsons remains without a contract extension, while Jones’ front office refuses to pay him and refuses to appease his trade request. It has set up a chaotic environment, with Parsons looking increasingly likely to not play in 2025 if he doesn’t get what he wants. If he does step on the field, the Cowboys will have one of the best players in the NFL on their side. Just not a Top 35 player, according to fellow players.
Micah Parsons makes an unexpected move at Cowboys training camp amidst the drama over trade request
Micah Parsons ranked 36th overall in NFL Top 100 list
On Wednesday, the NFL Top 100 list got to No. 36, where Parsons slotted in. Funnily enough, teammate CeeDee Lamb came in at No. 35. But it was Parsons’ ranking that got everyone talking, as many feel it’s way too low for a player of his caliber.
Analysts and fans alike couldn’t believe what they were seeing. There simply aren’t 35 better players across the whole league than Parsons, and they made their feelings known on the list.
In fact, some went so far as to ponder if Jones called in a favor for the NFL to rank Parsons lower than he should be. That is extremely unlikely, especially considering Parsons’ peers are who determine where players end up on the list.
Parsons registered his lowest sack total in 2024 on a defense that took a major step back. But Parsons got his 12.0 sacks in only 13 games, so he was technically on pace to set a career-high if it wasn’t for injury. This puts another chip on Parsons’ shoulder heading into 2025; that is, if he’s on the field and not holding out.
