A busca pelo jogador ganhou força após o impasse nas negociações por Yeremay Hernández, do Deportivo La Coruña, que prefere permanecer no clube espanhol. Com isso, o Sporting estaria preparado para oferecer até 30 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 190 milhões) para convencer o Shakhtar a liberar o brasileiro.

O jogador tem sido o principal destaque da equipe nesta temporada, especialmente nas fases preliminares da Liga dos Campeões. Contra o Yves Tempere, marcou um gol e deu duas assistências. Na sequência, diante do Besiktas, da Turquia, balançou as redes três vezes — dois gols no jogo de ida e um na volta.
No Palmeiras, Kevin ficou marcado como atleta pouco utilizado por Abel Ferreira. Ainda assim, protagonizou um momento importante na semifinal da Libertadores de 2023, quando entrou ao lado de Endrick e ajudou a mudar o rumo da partida, apesar da eliminação.
