Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles star and co-host of the New Heights podcast, sparked fan attention after undergoing a noticeable change in his appearance ahead of Taylor Swift‘s highly anticipated appearance.
As the pop superstar joined the 37-year-old Jason and his brother, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, on the podcast, confirming she would be the special guest for the upcoming episode.
Travis Kelce couldn’t hide Swift’s secret any longer
As many expect an intimate discussion into the Swift-Kelce family dynamics and about her upcoming album, some actually found themselves caught up in the ex-Eagles center’s new look.
After a promotional clip for the episode was shared on social media, screenshots from the video made it apparent that Kelce had dyed his beard jet black, replacing the familiar salt-and-pepper style he had maintained for years.
One fan commented, “Biggest reveal of the Taylor Swift album announcement was Jason Kelce‘s beautiful new beard paint job.”
A second said, “”I thought it looked a little less natural than normal.
And a third wrote, “Maybe he is filming something & had to dye it. He doesn’t seem like the type to do it for vanity sake.”
Jason, known for his engagement with the fans on social media, wasted no time responding to clear up the theories.
“I promise the dye was for a good reason, don’t hate me,” Kelce wrote via X.com, formerly Twitter, though he offered no further details about the motivation behind the transformation.
A side-by-side comparison of Jason’s previous appearance with the new footage confirmed the dramatic change, and the meaning behind it will likely be revealed on Wednesday, August 12 when the episode drops at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.
Swift announces new album
While the appearance of Jason drew the interest of some fans, focus quickly shifted to Taylor Swift and the reveal of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which drew excitement.
The album announcement occurred at 12:12 a.m. ET on August 12, and the podcast clip captured the moment Swift presented her latest project as in the footage, the Eras Tour star, seated beside Travis, teased the reveal.
“So I wanted to show you something,” Taylor said, to which Jason responded, “What do we got?”
While Travis displayed visible excitement, sticking out his tongue and smiling widely, Swift then unveiled a personalized briefcase, saying, “This is my brand new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.'”
Travis reacted exuberantly, shouting, “TS 12!” while Jason expressed his astonishment with, “ARGH!!”
The clip quickly went viral and won over 5.2 million likes on Instagram, with an extra 1.7 million shares and reposts. Another clip showing Taylor flirting with Travis won over two million likes.
