Taylor Swift revealed details about her father’s health during her first appearance on “New Heights,” the podcast hosted by her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.
The 14-time Grammy winner said she moved into her father Scott Swift‘s house after he underwent quintuple bypass surgery earlier this summer.

According to the artist, it was a major cardiac procedure that was “really intense” and “everything happened very quickly.” However, she also said that he was quite the comedian when he came out of surgery.
During the conversation, Taylor commented that fortunately, “he is doing incredibly well,” but that this situation came as a surprise since his annual electrocardiograms showed no abnormalities.
What detected his five heart blockages was a cardiac stress test. For this reason, 73-year-old Scott advised his friends to take this test “because that’s what’s actually preventative”: “If you can find that earlier, you don’t have to have bypass surgery,” he said.
“The life of a comedian”
When he woke up from the procedure and recovered from the anesthesia, Taylor, his mother Andrea, his younger brother Austin, and his father’s best friend were there for Scott, who was already ready to make them laugh. “He did like a comedy act, a comedy set for 15 minutes. He was the funniest he’s ever been, and he’s usually really funny,” the singer said.
“I was like, ‘Dad, you had a quintuple bypass. You had five [blockages]. That’s crazy. That’s more than we’d thought,’” Taylor said. “And he was like, ‘You see, I come from a very competitive family’.“
Not only was Scott’s good humor evident, but also his admiration for his daughter, after he tried to imitate her and turned the hospital room into a real stage for The Eras Tour:
“He came out of surgery [and] tried to give guitar picks to all the nurses and doctors,” Taylor shared. “But he wasn’t wearing pants, didn’t have pockets. [He was wearing a] hospital gown.“
Meanwhile, Andrea, the artist’s mother, also underwent a medical procedure: Swift commented that she now has “a new knee.”
“She’s doing great; she’s scampering around,” TayTay said before correcting herself: “We’re not quite at scampering, but she’s doing great.”
